Stephen decided to take the initiative and participate in this program because of the human author verification offering. He wanted to demonstrate his ongoing commitment to readers that all his (and his wife’s) written products and editing are the works of humans. Many people contribute to bringing a Weller book to life such as the authors, editors, proofreaders, copy editors, cover designers and more. To Stephen, it is important that all the human contributors’ work to bring a novel to life is celebrated.

Human Author Verification Certificate #2025-0017

One of the goals of the Texas Author Museum is to ensure books are verified as being written by human authors. Stephen is proud to announce the his first submission, The Progressive Hospital: A Lean Hope has been verified as being written by none other than himself, a real-life human. This book was chosen because it demonstrates the value of putting into words many years of first-hand experiences, trials, difficulties, failures, successes, and learnings. It is literally a book about human caregivers pushing through bohemoth obstacles to care for human patients and their communities.

Other Clues that a Book is Written by a Human Author

Though the Progressive Hospital is the first book to undergo a ‘non-AI’ verification, it is important to note that there are other ways to help readers feel confident that a Weller book is a human-written book. One notable way is through the numerous award submissions, of which they won many. It may seem that winning an award is solely about celebrating an author, but that isn’t the only reason: it is a testament to the reader that a book is well-written and admittedly ‘assumes’ the author is human.

It also contains non-graphic but emotionally significant deaths from car crashes, including one caused by a drunk driver. Alcohol use is present in social settings (bar scenes, drinking shots). The overall themes of pandemic, sudden loss, medical crisis, and public panic make it most appropriate for teen and adult readers rather than younger children.
